On August 3rd 3 Organizations, namely the Inquilabi Kendra, the Lok Sangram Manch and the C.P.I.(M.L.) New Democracy held a convention on the issue of state repression on Kashmir in Jalandhar in Punjab .Around 10000 people thronged the venue which was most encouraging displaying the rage of a torrent.

Positive that sections from various trends within the revolutionary camp participated.

This issue is one of the most sensitive as the right of Kashmiri people for self -determination is a fundamental one .

In fact a critical analysis has to be made on the popular resistance.

We must salute the revolutionary forces for staging such a meeting which had great political significance for the country.

The Hindutva fascist and R.S.S.forces are waging a vendetta against the people of Kashmir.

Such campaigns are part of the resistance against the Hindutva fascism.

Jalandhar, August 3 In a convention organised by left wing organisations, including the CPI (ML) ND, the Lok Sangram Manch and the Inqlabi Kendar Punjab today, their leaders strongly demanded to scrap the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), withdraw the Army from Jammu and Kashmir and assure self determination for the people of Jammu Kashmir.

Leaders of left organisations, including Ajmer Singh, Sukhwinder Kaur, Kanwaljit Khanna and Shinder Singh Nathuwala presided over the convention. Addressing the gathering, the speakers explained the genesis of the Kashmir problem and criticised the Indian government for backtracking on their promise.

They also slammed the Army’s ‘oppressive and humiliating behaviour’, and absence of justice for Kashmiris. They said with this approach and vision of the Indian government, the people of Kashmir felt cheated every time.

“Curfew has been imposed throughout the Valley. More than 50 people have been killed and thousands injured during the firing. Cable and internet services were disconnected, emergency has been declared on prominent newspapers and their employees have been arrested,” they said.

They argued that with increasing military force and continuing AFSPA, one couldn’t occupy Kashmir forever. With force, land could be occupied but not the people.

The speakers criticised the RSS and its political wings working to polarise the people for their Hinduvuta agenda.

The convention also called upon the people to arise and organise themselves against  the attack on minorities and Dalits.

The convention was addressed by Darshan Singh Khatkar, Mukhtiar Singh Poohla, Balwant Makhu and Rajesh  Malhotra.
